The Farm

"Long Island Farm" is a bus-ride northeast of Stanley. The farm family raises sheep and sells the wool. They heat with peat, and a son showed us how peat is dug & sheep are sheared. It's hard to make a living raising sheep, but they do it anyway. They have dogs for herding sheep and horses to oversee cattle on roadless stretches of territory. Life is as it always was, vegetable gardens grow food, hard work prevails, and they don't wish it any other way.

A young farm hand loves the horses and the dogs, and his Falkland Islands.
"I love the emptiness - working close to the soil. I couldn't live anywhere else! "
